It was narrated from Ibn ʿUmar (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw ʿUmar (رضي الله عنه) wearing a white Qamīs and he said:
❝Is this garment of yours washed or a new one?❞
He said: “Rather it has been washed.” He said:
❝Ilbas jadīdā, wa ʿish ḥamīdā, wa mut shahīdā (May you wear new clothes, live praiseworthy and die a martyr).❞

[Commentary]
Its narrators are trustworthy but it is defective. A group of scholars and imāms of ḥadīth considered it to be defective and it was classified as ḥadīth munkar (single narration from a weak narrator) by Yaḥyā bin Maʿīn and an-Nasāʾī.
Abū Ḥātim said: Invalid Ḥadīth.
It was mentioned by my father, Shaykh Muqbil in <Aḥādīth Muʿallāh>252, and he said in conclusion of his speech -may Allāh have mercy on him- regarding this ḥadīth: So the bottom line is that it is ḥadīth munkar as mentioned by an-Nasāʾī.

🔹ومن الأدعية لمن لبس ثوبًا جديدًا🔹
📕عنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى عَلَى عُمَرَ قَمِيصًا أَبْيَضَ، فَقَالَ: “ثَوْبُكَ هَذَا غَسِيلٌ أَمْ جَدِيدٌ؟ قَالَ: لا، بَلْ غَسِيلٌ. قَالَ: “الْبَسْ جَدِيدًا، وَعِشْ حَمِيدًا، وَمُتْ شَهِيدًا”رواه ابن ماجة(3558)،وأحمد(9/441).
🍃ورجاله ثقات ولكنه معل.أعلَّه جمع من الحفاظ وأئمة الحديث، وحكم عليه بأنه حديث منكر يحيى بن معين والنسائي.
🍃وقال أبوحاتم:حديث باطل.
📌وذكره والدي الشيخ مقبل في «أحاديث معلة»( 252)،وقال في خاتمة كلامه رحمه الله على هذا الحديث:فالحاصل أنه حديث منكر كما قاله النسائي.
