يا من ضاق صدرك
Oh! You whose chest is feeling constrained
ويا من كثر همك وغمك
Oh! You who has numerous worries and sorrows
عليك بالصلاة
Upon you is the Ṣalāh
ارحنا بها يا بلال
❝Comfort us by it, Oh Bilāl!❞

تريد الراحة؟
You want comfort?
تريد السعادة؟
You want happiness?
تريد الطمأنينة؟
You want peace of mind?
اقبل على الصلاة
Turn to Ṣalāh
والله ما هي بالمال
By Allāh! It’s not by wealth
والله لو جمعت
By Allāh! If you were to gather
أموال الدنيا
The wealth of this world
وكنوز الأرض
And treasures of the earth
لن ينشرح صدرك
It would not expand your chest
بل ربما يضيق
Rather it may constrict it
كم من أناس
How many from the people
من الأثرياء
From the rich ones
والأغنياء
And the wealthy
والرؤساء
And presidents
والوزراء
And ministers
إلى غير ذلكم
And other than them
تراهم في ضيق
You see them in suffering
لا يعلمه إلا الله
Known to none other than Allāh
فليس انشراح الصدر
So your heart’s contentment is not
يا عباد الله بالمال
Oh! Slaves of Allāh by wealth
وليس انشراح الصدر
And your heart’s contentment is not
بالجاه
Due to prestige
وليس انشراح الصدر
And your heart’s contentment is not
بشيء آخر
Due to anything else
من أمور الدنيا
From the worldly affairs
انشراح الصدر
Relaxation of the chest
بطاعة الله
Is by obedience to Allāh
وطاعة رسول الله
And obedience to the Messenger of Allāh
صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم
-Praises and blessings of Allāh be upon him and his family-
اقبل على الصلاة
Turn towards Ṣalāh!
لهذا كم نجد من أناس
For that reason, we mentioned
How many people we come across
يا أخي أنا في ضيق
Oh! My brother, I am in distress
لا يعلم إلا الله
None knows about it except Allāh
