It was narrated on the authority of ʿUmar bin al-Khaṭṭāb -may Allāh be pleased with him-:
❝Verily, a man might leave his residence, with sins like the mountain of Tihāmah, then when he hears (some) knowledge, fears (Allāh), returns (back to Allāh in obedience) and repents (from his sins), he returns back to his residence with no sins upon him. So do not forsake the gatherings of the scholars.❞

وقد رُوِي عن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه: «إنَّ الرجل ليخرجُ من منزله وعليه من الذنوب مثلُ جبل تهامة، فإذا سمعَ العلمَ خاف ورجعَ وتاب؛ فانصرفَ إلى منزله وليس عليه ذنب، فلا تفارقوا مجالسَ العلماء»
